Probably our new neighborhood shtick! New in town and so happy to find the people, the food... the chill... feels like you walked into a family dining room serving it up Cajun... spot! For sure off the beaten path and for sure worth it!!
Gotta have the Boudan Balls, to die for Shrimp-n-Grits, red fish is a must add on and don't forget about the beignets. Bring your own adult beverage- we cracked open our bottle... and maybe an extra for the Picnic tables outside after dinner.
The food- only to be outdone by those that really warm it up- missed "papa" tonight but everyone talks about him and you know he's the passion behind the purpose. Amber... such a delight and Amanda will quite literally pull up a chair beside you. Next time gonna hit the crawfish because we will for SURE be back!!!!
I was born on the Gulf Coast of MS and my parents owned a poboy/oyster bar. From an early age, I enjoyed the perfect taste of fresh oysters from the half shell drizzled by a lemon squeeze and maybe a slight dip into a little horseradish, lea and perrin, ketchup....but not too much! Those things would only prevent me from tasting the lusciousness of nature's making...an oyster sitting in it's juice waiting for a hungry traveler's feast! I also grew up eating crawfish, shrimp, and maryland blue claw crabs. Etouffee was another dinner feast I enjoyed dining from some of the most prestigious tables in NOLA.Yes, I was a lucky person! Thank you Mom and Dad. My brother continues to still offer life's bounty from the sea at The White Cap located on the beach road in Gulfport MS.
You'll find me at my brother's restaurant, The White Cap, but never again will you find me at Papa Boudreauxs Cajun Cafe. I found him a humorous and delightful man and the staff very proficient in caring for the service to his customers. I was charmed and delighted by the LSU paraphernalia in the room. I took a picture of the table cloth imprinted with BIG LSU letters garlanded by Mardri Gras beads of purple, green, and gold to send to my LSU family! Pure LSU fans live here!

Because we didn't linger over food we hadn't eaten, we paid our bill to enjoy the best part of this evening to PBCC; the setting sun on the way home.
No exaggeration, this is the best restaurant in Middle TN. You have to drive forever, risk your life in the middle of nowhere, disregard safety on Tennessee backroads, but it's worth it. Everything on the menu is awesome and Papa is one of the nicest people you will ever talk to.
It had been a few years since we had been out there and it was a few years too long. The crawfish etoufee with the redfish is easily one of my top 5 favorite dishes in the country. If I die in my sleep tonight from how full I am Atleast I will die happy.
Thought I'd reviewed this already. Amazing place. If you even remotely like Cajun food, you'll love the food and the ambiance. I feel like I just jumped a plane to the Big easy whenever I come here. Food is absolutely delicious, and the Chef is originally from New Orleans. Try the Fish on your pasta. Heck, try anything they have. One of my absolute favorite restaurants in the greater Nashville area. Many food items are flown fresh from New Orleans.
Bring your own bottle of wine, and bring cash as they don't accept credit cards. Make a reservation for weekends as this place gets busy and it's small.
We celebrated my mom's 80th birthday there last night. She met Papa Boudreaux at her work and they became fast friends. She'd never eaten there before, but wanted to go there for her party because Papa was just so wonderful. Drew, Papa's son, was incredibly helpful assisting me in pulling the party together from long-distance. The food was all incredible, served family style. Red Beans & Rice, Jambalaya, the red fish!!! The shrimp just popped in your mouth they were so juicy. Did I mention serving family style for our party?? Let's just say, the parting gifts for our guests were incredible plates of left-overs. Just like a real family dinner ... well, because they make you feel like family.
